Hi everybody!!

You know what? Last weekend I had a terrible flu, so I started thinking about the terrible flus that I’ve had in my mi life, but when I was thinking about it I remembered one of the biggest adventures of my childhood, and it will be a pleasure to share it with you guys.

First a little bit of context:

it happened 21 years ago, when I was 2 1/2 years old (or less); at that time, we were living on my grandparents’ farm and I was jealous because my brother had a beautiful pair of shoes and I didn’t, so I spent all day long asking my mom for shoes as beautiful as my brother’s. Also at that time, the CR government had a help system for children, and the government used to give 6 bags of powdered milk every month to each child (so my brother and I used to get 12 bags of milk every month).

Ok, the day that it happened, my mom had to go get the famous 12 bags of milk from the medical center (it was around 6 kilometers on foot from my grandparents’ farm). My mom woke up very early–around 3 AM–and walked the 6 kilometers to get the milk and arrived back to our home around 9 AM, after having walked another 6 kilometers back (with the 12 kilograms of milk).

When my mom realized that I really, really wanted the shoes, she decided to do some extra work harvesting coffee on the farm and then to buy my shoes… so my brother and I were alone in the house.

I don’t remember who had the idea (maybe the idea started in my brother’s head, he was the leader and I just followed him)… so we thought that we wanted to live in a swimming pool… and we decided to fill the house up with water!! Even now, I get the mental image that suddenly appeared in my mind at that moment: I saw myself as a fish swimming through the house… as literally living in a swimming pool.

Ready to work, my brother and I turned on the in the house to flood it and get our swimming pool… I remember seeing my brother standing on a chair, filling containers and jars with water and then letting the water fall on the floor of our kitchen… after getting the floor completely wet, we realized that it would take a lot of time to the water up to the roof level… so we decided to help in the process (hehe) and again my brother stood up on the chair and handed me the jars with water, and I strategically let them spill all over the beds and the closets.

When the beds and the closets and EVERYTHING was wet we got a better idea! We thought that it would be better to live in a milk swimming pool instead of water (b/c milk is sooo yummy!)… and guess what did we found? 12 beautiful bags of milk to make our dream comes true! We emptied the 12 kilograms of powdered milk onto the house’s floor, the beds and the closets and while we were waiting for our milk swimming pool to reach the house’s ceiling, MY PARENTS appeared suddenly at the door!!

I just remember hearing my mom say “I can’t touch them, if I touch them I’m gonna KILL THEM!!!” and she told my dad “You have to beat them!”… but do you know what, dear readers? My dad never did… he had compassion for our prank… especially when we told him that we just wanted to make a milk swimming pool.

hola gente! :)
