I’m perverse in my pleasures, I realize. Like any self-respecting masochist, my hedonistic pursuits actually realize themselves in varying manifestations of self-torture. For example, yesterday I told you about my compulsive need to organize my iTunes library (which is, as I said, not-so-quietly driving me to madness). And today, I give you my latest form of self brutality:
I am now blogging in Spanish about SEO.
Oh yes, you read it right: Not only am I attempting to write about SEO, a profession which taunts me on a daily basis, but I am writing about it in Spanish, a language which laughs in my face every time I attempt to speak it. I think that the Spanish language has actually created its own “Nanny nanny boo boo, Erin!” dance. But, despite it all, I’m still excited about my new blogging locale. Behold the wonder that is my mind.
MAEStro Web is a clever name, you see. “Maes” is tico (Costa Rican) slang for “guys”. So, the capitalization of MAES is an obvious indicator that the blog is Costa Rican (can I get a “woo hoo!”??). But “maestro” means “master” (it also means “teacher”). The blog’s main theme is the mastery of the web and computer stuffs (which, of course, begs the question, ‘what the hell am I doing there?!’). But it’s also a Costa Rican blog. Hence, the clever wordplay that you should all be appreciating.
[I realized, ex post escrito, that the above paragraph would have been much more amusing if I had actually delivered it to you. The deadpan delivery would have been marked by a distinct lack of expression on my face and a rather bored tone to my voice, both of which would be rather key in the transmission of the paragaph’s humor. It’s in these times that I consider podcasting or even videocasting. But then I realize that, no, that is quite a bad idea. I think the written word of Erin nearly reaches most people’s limits on snark and sarcasm. To incorporate your sense of hearing into the mix would be cruel and unusual.]
Anyhow, my amigo — who you may call “He Dicho” (who blogs at the Carephicha Blog and, oh my, how I laugh when I say that) — invited me to blog with him on MAEStro Web. Since all of you, my beloved readers, are 100% fluent in Spanish, I invite you to visit and read often. There’s a link in the links section at the bottom of the Gringuitica Homepage. So don’t be shy, now. Head on over. It’ll be a fiesta.
p.s. I think I should self-impose a ban on (parentheses) and [bracketts]. I seem to use them in unhealthy quantities.

me encanto tu blog!…. muy util…
btw your spanish is soooooooooooo goooood!
Everything sounds awesome, except y’know, the whole “being in Spanish”-thing. I’m gonna end up looking at it sometime, and then I’ll think to myself, “Is she TRYING to kill me?!”
Ey tu blog está muy bueno. Saludos desde Panamá.
keep up the good work…
Hi Erin. I found your blog via TechZ.
It’s nice to know you can write in Spanish and I can see a good nitch being filled since you are also blogging in Spanish.
I’m the co-author of the Guide to Blogging E-Metrics Simplified and it would be great to have it translated into Spanish.
If you are interested in helping with the project, let me know. I can’t pay a lot but I can offer you a credit link and some additional traffic to your site.
Thanks for your consideration.
