Fine, I’m [sort of] a geek.
I am not a geek. But, in an extraordinarily uncharacteristic move, I will do something that may qualify as slightly to moderately geeky: I’m going to blog from the airport.
I wouldn’t normally do this, but to be honest, I have to do something. My body is shaking. You’ll forgive the typos, because my hands are shaking most of all. I’m apprehensive. Scared. Very nervous. Friends await me, but so does an unfamiliar culture, a foreign language, and a big new city.
So here I am, in the airport, with an hour and a half to go, waiting for the knot in my stomach to go away. Then I’d be glad to part with the one in my throat. Because in a few hours, I’ll be in beautiful CR and everything will be okay.
I may or may not have Internet when I get to CR, so if there’s no blogging, no worries. That is all. Hasta entonces!

Pshhhh.. Just find a bagelmans or something…josue is always at some bagel shop with wireless
download Kismac, do some wardriving, and start some Pirate WiFi fun!
I’m sure we can organize a meetup in CR if you miss crazy Americans any. And your rent a sister is on the way!
I´m from CR and you have to be extremly carefull whit your luggage outside the airport remenber you are in Latin America now.
Good Luck
Welcome!
Hi Erin. Indeed, you are a geek and we love you all the same.
I’ve blogged from the airport many times. Most airports provide free wifi as well.
I’m sure in Costa Rica you’ll have internet.
As mentioned, you have friends awaiting you who have internet, so you’ll be just fine. I’m sure Josue will hook you up.
I look forward to hearing more about your next adventures in a new place… and country… w00t!
Awesome! I am glad to hear everything is working out well for you. I’d love to hear how your trip was and how everything is out in Costa Rica, I’m sure it is a blast with warm weather and sunny beaches. Well maybe not sunny beaches but surely warm weather.
I saw her last night for a little bit. She arrived and she is having a blast.
Damn straight, waiting for a few pictures of her new place and to hear about how everything is going.
Chris why did you say “well maybe not sunny beaches?”
Thats a mistake, in Costa Rica there are beautiful beaches.
Hi Erin:
I haven’t visited your blog for a while, but I’m glad to hear that you’re finally in Tiquicia. Welcome “home” and I wish you the best in your new adventure. If you need anything or have any question just let me know.
By the way, now that you are here’s, theres a crazy idea I wanted to mention to you and all the english-writing bloggers that are living in Costa Rica, and writing about Costa Rica or things related to Costa Rica. How about meeting somewhere in Costa Rica to meet and share our blogging experiences, know-how and just get to know each other.
I mean we have been doing this blogging stuff for a while and we have made a lot of great contacts and met a lot of people with wonderful blogs, but we barely know each other. I think that even if just a few bloggers are interested it would be a nice opportunity to finally meet in person and exchange experiences.
Don’t worry Erin, of course we can wait until you get settled in before we arrange such a meeting so that you can join us.
I know what is like getting to a new country and trying to get everything settled because I lived for four years in Chicago and it took me a while to get everything in order.
Anyway, as I said this is just one of the crazy ideas I have had in this New Year, but I wanted to put it out there to see the kind or reaction it gets.
Once again: Welcome to Costa Rica.
Happy New Year Everyone!
Thanks for the ortography lesson.
Its hard for me write in English
@Uri: I love the idea! Email me or I will do the same.
@Fabian: I hope it didn’t bother you. I was just trying to help.
And I understand; it’s always hard to write in a language that is not your own!
