I’ve never been one to shy away from changes. In fact, I like to leap into the arms of change for a big hug once in awhile because as we evolve and grow, we become stronger, better, and more experienced. Like a caterpillar that turns into a butterfly, it’s our inevitable life cycle.

A year ago today, a personal metamorphosis began: I wrote my first post for Gringuitica. It wasn’t a great post; I’d venture to say that my writer’s voice is nowhere to be found amongst those first words and my style left quite a bit to be desired. But that post marked the beginning of a great journey.

Writing is the closest I come to meditation or a zen state. I just love it. It makes me calm, it helps me to be introspective, it allows me to wade through my thoughts and figure out what I want. I don’t know if I’ll ever be a great writer, but I do know that writing will always be great for me.

Blogging, for some, is just one of many interests. For me, it’s a hobby that has changed my life. Not in some huge, corny sense, but in a small, practical one: Blogging has allowed me an escape when I needed it. It has opened the door to meeting wonderful people, some who have become best friends. Blogging has given me a means with which to document my life. The value in that is without words.

But it’s not just about the writing; it’s about the interactions. I love talk with you, my readers. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart. It’s cliché, but I couldn’t have done it without you. Well, I could have, but I never would because it wouldn’t be fun to blog if we didn’t converse. So thank you all for the time you’ve spent reading what I’ve had to say. Thank you for the time you’ve spent formulating your responses. Thank you for believing in me when I went blog silent and for encouraging me to keep going. Thank you for everything. You’ve made my journey fun.

So here’s to you, Gringuitica. Happy First Birthday.

Thanks very much, you guys! It’s fun to be here and great that you find my blog interesting enough to come back to. A big thanks to you all, too, because without my commenters, I probably wouldn’t still be here.
